Faisalabad ASO confiscates items worth Rs 13 million in June

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized contraband items worth Rs 13.029 million during June 2016.

Sources said that the ASO confiscated the items from different locations of Faisalabad city, including Chanab Nagar, Sargodha Road, Gattwala, Karkhana Bazar, Railway colony, and from other areas.

The items were seized on the information of Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad under the supervision of Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan under the Customs Act, 1969.

The team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Safdar Ali, Ali Zahid, Khalid Ashraf Noor, Sepoys Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Naeem, and Muhammad Yaseen participated in the raids.

The customs officials confiscated the items as the accused persons failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items. Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further investigation after confiscating the items.

According to data available to Customs Today, it impounded three vehicles and 16 various contraband items during fiscal year 23014-15.
