Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

Customs Deputy Collector Usman Tariq asked Muhammad Islam to produce the documents regarding the legal import or lawful possession of the goods. He provided Goods Declaration No: FCSI-HC-36 dated 02-09-2017 and KAPW-HC-252229 dated 23-6-2016.

On perusal of the abovementioned GDs, it has been observed that all the GDs were related to alternators and engines along with other irrelevant items. However no diesel generator was imported through these GDs. Due to unavailability of legal documents of its import, the diesel generator was seized under Section 168, 16, 18, and 32 of the Customs Act-1969 read with SRO No: 499(1)2009.

The customs registered a case against the accused persons. The ASO team, comprising Khalild Ashraf Noor, Tanveer-ul-Haq, Inspector and Sepoys Muhammad Khalid Dogar, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Hayat and others, participated in the operation.

The seizure report has been sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
