Faisalabad ASO impounds non-customs paid Honda Accord

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization ( ASO ), Faisalabad has seized a tempered and non-customs paid foreign origin Honda Accord vehicle worth Rs 900,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received information that some non-duty vehicles are plying on roads of Faisalabad. After receiving the tip off, he directed the collectorate to take all necessary measures to check illegal vehicles.

The ASO team consisting  Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Khalid Ashraf Noor, Safdar Ali and other sepoys and led by Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan started checking of vehicles at different points of the city..  The sources said that the squad during checking detained a non-customs paid Honda car bearing registration no. AFZ- 119 model 2002 in grey colour from GTS Chowk Faisalabad.

The ASO team demanded documents from the owner of the vehicle who was identified as Muhammad Amjad son of Muhammad Akmal. But he failed to produce any documents. However the ASO authorities granted him three days to produce the documents identifying legal import of the vehicle failing which stern action will be taken against the owner as per law.
