Faisalabad ASO impounds non-customs paid Toyota Land Cruiser

FAISALABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded a non-customs paid luxury vehicle in Faisalabad.

In pursuance of credible information received through the MCC Faisalabad Collector Tauseef Ahmad Qureshi, a team of Anti Smuggling Organization intercepted the foreign origin Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Cygnus bearing Registration No.JAG-304-Quetta near Gatt Wala Toll Plaza, Faisalabad. ASO asked the driver named Amanullah Khan to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal import / lawful possession of the vehicle.

He produced a copy of registration book and stated that the said vehicle was cleared under Amnesty Scheme under SRO.172 (1)/2013. He also produced copy of documents regarding payment of duty/taxes. The documents provided by the driver were examined and found bogus.

Therefore, the said vehicle was impounded by customs under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for violation of Section 2(s) read with SRO 566(I)/2005, Section 16, 18 of the Customs Act, 1969, Section 3 of Sales Tax Act,1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 read with Section 3(1)3 of the Import & Export (Control) Act 1950, punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 and the relevant Customs Laws after completion of all the legal formalities and serving notice under Section 171 of the Customs Act, 1969 on the owner of the impounded vehicle.
