Faisalabad ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf

FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad has seized non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1.6m involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 874,240.

Customs officials told Customs Today that in pursuance of information received through Collector Dr Zulifkar Ali Chaudhary, the ASO team raided a workshop near Susan Road Madina Town, Faisalabad and intercepted a Hilux Surf in silver Colour bearing registration no, LEE-16-9881 Model 2000. The person on driving seat tried to break the check point and but he remained failed.

During the checking, it was revealed that the vehicle was brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes. Therefore, the ASO team impounded the vehicle under section 2(S), read with SRO 566(1)2005 section 16, 18, 168, of the Customs Act 1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act, 1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3 (1) 3 of Import & Export Control Act 1950, punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 dated 13.06.2009 after completion of all the legal formalities.

ASO team comprising Superintendent  Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Liaqat Ali others conducted the operation against smuggler.

The owner of the vehicle has neither contacted the office ASO Faisalabad nor has produced any evidence of the lawful import.
