Faisalabad ASO impounds smuggled generator and loader

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized a 400-KVA foreign origin generator. The market value of the confiscated generator is Rs06million involving duties and taxes of Rs2.2million besides impounding carrier vehicle of Rs02million.

Sources informed Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received a tip-off that a generator is being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad through Mazda truck with registration No: JX-6031 without payment of duties and taxes.

He immediately formed an ASO team comprising Tanveer Raza Naqvi (Superintendent), Faizi Raza, Waqas Ali (Inspectors) and Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Liaqat Ali, Zulfiqar Ali (Sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted the truck and asked the driver, identified as Umar Aziz, to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of generator, but he failed to do so.

The ASO team impounded the generator, vehicle and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.
