Faisalabad ASO impounds truck worth Rs 3.6m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has impounded a Hino Truck worth Rs 3.6 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.3 million.

An ASO team, following the directions of Assistant Collector Model Customs Collectorate, Umer Bin Zafer Chattah, intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. C-9641 near Dajil village District Bhakkar.

The officials asked the driver namely Muhammad Habib Khan to produce the documents showing the legal possession of the vehicle. But he could not show any documents on which the customs officials took the vehicle into custody and served notice upon the accused persons.

After a considerable passage of time no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim ownership of imported vehicle and to prove the legal import of the vehicle, therefore, customs impounded the vehicle following the customs law.

ASO team comprising Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, Havaladar Muhammad Yaqoob Umar Bhatti and others conducted raid.
