Faisalabad ASO recovers miscellaneous smuggled goods

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized  foreign origin miscellaneous  goods worth Rs 781,500.

Sources told Customs Today,that Collector Faisalabad Chaudhary Zulafqar Ali  received information regarding some smuggling attempts. After receiving the tip off, he constituted an ASO team under the  supervision of Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad, Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joyia, Inspector Saeed Chohan, Khalid Ashraf Noor, Muhammad Safdar Ali also took part in the operation.

The ASO team intercepted a Mazda mini truck bearing registration No. SLE-5045 near Shah Kot Toll Plaza Sheikhupura Lahore Road and recovered foreign origin artificial leather, shoes, gutkha and Ratana brand tobacco.

The ASO team asked the driver Muhammad Munawar to produce any documents showing the legal possession and import of the  goods items but he failed to show any documents after which customs impounded the goods items following the prevailing customs laws.

After making seizure report the ASO team deposited the confiscated goods items in State Warehouse. Further investigation is underway in the customs adjudication department
