Faisalabad ASO recovers smuggled items worth Rs 19.2m in May

FAISALABAD:The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered smuggled items worth Rs 19.2 million during the month of May 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary formed many teams to foil smuggling attempts. These teams conducted various raids under the supervision of Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan which also included Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya , Inspector Safdar Ali, Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar and Khalid Noor, and sepoys Ghulam Sarwar, Sher Ahmad, Faiz Ahmad and Muhammad Amin which conducted many raids.

During these raids, the ASO team successfully seized five non-duty paid and tampered vehicles, foreign origin cloth, tyres,tubes,  auto spare parts, cigarettes, Pan Prag Zafrani Patti and others miscellaneous smuggled items which were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Sources said that the accused persons failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of vehicles and items. Now ASO authorities forwarded cases of seizure to customs Adjudication.
