Faisalabad ASO seizes 13,300-kg sulphonic acid smuggled from Iran

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad seized foreign origin 13,300 kilogram of Sulphonic Acid imported from Iran.

Sources told Customs Today that, on a tip-off, the ASO team raided Bypass Chowk, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad and confiscated a huge quantity of sulphonic acid worth Rs05million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs694343.

The supply of sulphonic acid in Pakistan is prohibited but most of the retailers are involved in dealing in the acid under the table.

Customs ASO Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi said that, after receiving information, the team raided the said area and seized a huge quantity of Sulphonic acid. He added that the acid has been taken into possession and further investigations are underway.

The ASO team, consisting of Inspectors Faizi Raza and Muhammad Munir Ahmed, conducted raid under the supervision of Superintendent Tanveer Naqvi.
