FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized 671 mobile phones worth Rs 1.724 million involving customs duty of Rs 724,000.
The ASO team, on information received through Collector Zulifkar Ali Choudhary, intercepted a Hundai Shehzor bearing Registration No. LZJ-5967 near Motorway interchange Kamal Pur Sargodha Road, Faisalabad, and recovered 671 mobile phones of brands E4, 1-2, Power 3, Mega M-1, Grand G-1, K-140, L1-i, W40 and power 900. The phones were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes trough an unauthorized route.
Sources told to Customs Today that the ASO staff asked the drive namely Tanveer khan son of Naseer Ahmed khan residential Dhudiwala Faisalabad to produce any legal import and lawful possession. He showed the Q-Mobiles in the vehicle a copy of Voucher of Sky jet Countrywide, Express Faisalabad in favour of the loaded goods at the spot.
During the investigation found that 671 out of 3127 number of mobile of different brand have not been verified from the record list. Therefore, the items were seized under section 168 of the customs act 1969 and seizure report along with enclosure submitted to adjudication department for further legally action.
