Faisalabad ASO seizes art silk cloth worth Rs4.5m

FAISALABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized imported foreign origin cloth containing net weight 650 kilograms worth Rs10 million.

Sources told Customs Today that the cloth was being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad through passenger bus. ASO team intercepted smuggled cloth near Jhang Road.

ASO team asked the owner Muhammad Amjad to produce legal documentary evidence of the said cloth but the owner failed to produce any documents relating to its legal import.

After his failure, ASO team foreign origin cloth was seized under the relevant provision of the Import and Export Control Act 1950 Section 156 (1) 89(i) of the Customs Act 1969.

ASO detecting staff consisting of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Faran Frank, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor and Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Liaqat Ali. The seizure report was sent to the customs adjudication department for further legal proceedings.
