Faisalabad ASO seizes glass beads worth Rs 1.69m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 1765 kilograms of glass beads worth Rs 1.699 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 330,135.

ASO Deputy Collector Rana Falik Shair received information regarding the smuggling attempt. He formed a customs team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Inspector Abdul Jabbar, sepoys Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf and Naeemillah.

The ASO team Raided M/s Al-Atif Goods Forwarding Agency Satyana Road, Faisalabad, and recovered a huge quantity of glass beads. On demand, the accused person namely as Muhammad Tariq could not show documents regarding the legal import of the item; therefore, glass beads were seized under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969.

The seizure report has been forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
