Faisalabad ASO seizes goods & vehicle worth Rs1.5m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized foreign origin (F/O) miscellaneous items in Faisalabad city. The market value of the seized parts is Rs1.5m involving customs duty and taxes of Rs117903.

Collector Customs Faisalabad Choudhary Zulfikar Ali received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin items. Soon after receiving the information, he constituted a raiding team comprising Saeed Akhtar Joiya (Superintendent), Inspectors Safdar Ali, Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (Sepoys). The team seized the smuggled goods and one non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs420000 under Customs Section 157 of the Act-1969.

The ASO team intercepted a Hyundai Shehzore with registration No: 6-4334 loaded with New F/O Compact Disc Player (140-Nos ), F/O Cutlery Kitchen knives (290 Dozens) and F/O Geometry (1700-Nos ) made in China. The team asked the accused, identified as Muhammad Imran, a resident of Faisalabad, to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the items but he failed. The customs team seized the spare parts and registered a case against the accused persons.
