Faisalabad ASO seizes goods worth Rs 8.7m in last week of October

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) conducted various operations against smugglers and seized goods worth Rs 8.729 million during the last week of October 2016.

As per details, Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan and his team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and Sepoys Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah seized goods and vehicles under the Customs Act, 1969.

The ASO impounded a vehicle under Section 157 worth Rs 2 million being used for smuggling, and a non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs 1.2 million under Section, 2670 kilogramme of foreign origin cloth worth Rs 1.705 million, cigarettes worth Rs 325,530, gutka worth Rs 56,000 and other miscellaneous items valued at Rs 3.442 million. All these items were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Faisalabad ASO seized these items on the violation of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act, 1969 and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
