Faisalabad ASO seizes goods worth Rs17m in last week of January

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad, has seized goods of different brands worth Rs 18million in various operations during the last week of January FY216-17.

Sources told Customs Today that under the supervision of Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan, the ASO team arrested several smugglers to curb the illegal business.

The raiding ASO team consisted of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Inspector Ali Zahid, Inspector Khalid Mehmood Dogar, Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.

The ASO impounded five offending vehicles worth Rs500000million under Section (U/S-157) which were being used for smuggling. Foreign origin cloths weighed 2595-kg worth Rs1.1million, imported electronics of 36-kg worth Rs333840 and other miscellaneous items weighed 35122 kilogram worth Rs11million were also recovered.

The ASO seized items under Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156(i) 89(i) and 90 of the Custom Act-1969 and forwarded the cases to the Customs Adjudication further proceedings.
