Faisalabad ASO seizes huge quantity of Chinese smuggled cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 583 rolls of foreign origin smuggled cloth worth Rs 8.9 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs4,943,599 during an action. Besides confiscated Isuzu vehicle worth Rs 2,90,0000 with carrier container no:BEAU-402952-4.

Sources told Customs Today, following information received through Deputy Collector Usman Tariq regarding huge quantity of non duty paid cloth is being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad.

Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi constituted a raiding team comprising Inspectors Safdar Ali, Faizi Raza, and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Liaqat Ali and Muhammad Ashraf.

The ASO team raided near Pansra Jhang road Faisalabad and intercepted  Isuzu TFR vehicle bearing registration no: JU-7045. The driver Muhammad Ansar son of Shaukat Ali was asked to show documents regarding legal import of the cloth. But he could not produce any documents in respect of the cloth.

Therefore, the officials confiscated the items under the customs laws. A case has been registered against accused person of the seized cloth. The case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
