FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized contraband coriander seeds worth Rs7,00,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs1,73,620. besides impounded Hino truck worth Rs30,00,000.
As per details Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizawan received credible information that some huge quantity of coriander seeds were being smuggled. He immediately constituted a team which intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no: P-3794.
The officials while searching recovered 10,000 kilograms of foreign origin coriander seeds. Theses items are being transported from Quetta to Faisalabad and Lahore.
After recovering the items staff asked the driver Namely Hassan ud Din son of Abdul Khaliq to produce the documents regarding the legal possession of the items but he remained fail to do so on which customs team seized the items and also impounded the vehicle under Section 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969.
The detecting staff comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Ali zahid, Mahmood Ahmed Dogar, Khalid Ashraf Noor, and Sepoy Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Yasin, and Muhammad Dilawar.
