Faisalabad ASO seizes huge quantity of smuggled goods during last week of May

ISLAMABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered different goods worth Rs6,350,000 during last week of May 2017.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Usman Tariq constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts. The ASO team comprises of Superintendent Dilawar Hussain, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Faizi Raza, Safdar Ali and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.

The above said team intercepted two vehicles which were brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes worth Rs25,00,000 seizes under section U/S 157 being used for smuggling transportation. The team seized three non duty paid vehicle worth Rs2,000,000 under section and tyres tubes worth Rs14,50000, and other different items Rs 4,00,000 were also taken into custody.

It is necessary to mention here that owners of these goods and vehicles failed to provide legal documents regarding the legal import of the items.

Faisalabad ASO seized items with the section contravened Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156 (1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969. The case has been forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
