Faisalabad ASO seizes non duty paid 240 kg cloth

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized non duty paid cloth worth Rs2,00,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs58200.

According to the details, Collector Dr Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received information regarding smuggling of foreign origin cloth on which he formed a team comprising Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Sepoys Ali Zahid and Muhammad Khalid Dogar, Afzal Hussain, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Ashraf and Liaqat Ali to foil the bid.

The ASO team raided at Azad Hakeem Goods Jhang Road, Faisalabad and recovered 240 kilograms of cloth, from the office. On demand owner of the cloth who was identified as Noor Khan son of Barkat Ali failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items.

Furthermore, recovery memo was prepared in the presence of the accused persons and cloth was seized under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and registered a case against accused persons.

The case has been sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
