Faisalabad ASO seizes non duty paid ceramic tiles

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized ceramic tiles worth Rs104516, involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs80,034.

According to sources of Customs Today Collector Muhammad Sadiq on tip off directed the ASO team to conduct operation on godown of Sethi Marbles.

During the search operation, customs officials 283 square meters of ceramic tiles worth Rs1,04,516 from the godown, as the officials of the warehouse could not produce the import documents regarding the tiles.

As per the details, the owner of the godown named Muhammad Junaid Sethi son of Muhammad Iqbal Sethi was present on the spot but when he was asked to show legal documents of imported tiles, he failed to produce any legal documents.

Now, the accused appeared before ASO superintendent and submitted an affidavit in which he stated that he had no documentary evidence of legal import and lawful possession of the ceramic tiles and was ready to pay leviable duty and taxes.
