Faisalabad ASO seizes non-duty paid foregin origin cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Faisalabad Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated foreign origin 1375 yards of smuggled cloth. The market value of seized cloth is Rs 182405 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 64153.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Faisalabad Dr Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received credible information regarding some smuggling attempts. After which he formed a ASO team comprising Muhammad Javed Mehmood (Superintendent), Sardar Muhammad (Deputy Superintendent), Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar (inspectors), and Khalid Dogar, Zulifqar Ali Awan, Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmad (sepoys).

The ASO team raided on Kohistan Cargo Service near Railway Station while the cloth was off loading at for further delivery.  tOn demand manager of cargo company failed to produce any documentary evidance showing its legal import or lawful possession.

The ASO team registered a case of smuggling against owner of cloth who was identified as Muhammad Yousaf son of Muhammad Ashraf and Zulqarnain Ali Shah and seized the cloth.
