Faisalabad ASO seizes non duty paid garments during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO seized non duty paid garments. The market value of seized items is Rs 7,05,149 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 4,47,772.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary received credible information regarding smuggling of garments. After receiving the information the collector constituted a special team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Ali Zahid, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Dilawar Hussain, Liaqat Ali, Zulifkar Ali Awan, Muhammad Arshad.

The ASO team intercepted a Suzukai pick up Ravi bearing registration no. LET-15-1109 near Shahkot Toll Plaza and recovered huge quantity of non duty paid garments and shirts including men’s shirts 1800 units, boys shirts, 1114 units. The consignment was being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad.

The team asked the driver Abid Ali son of Wali Muhammad to produce legal documents regarding possession of garments but they failed to provide the same, while Muhammad Farooq Manager of M/s Image Garments appeared in ASO office and provide photo copies of GDs invoice  and certificates which were found irrelevant.

The Anti Smuggling Organization after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication.
