Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled LEDs worth Rs 1m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated non duty paid LEDs of Sony, Samsung brand worth Rs 1 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs2,55,657 during an action.

Sources told Customs Today that ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information regarding some smuggling attempts on which he formed a team comprising Superintendent Saeed Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mehmood Dogar, Ali Zahid, and Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Afzaal, Muhammad Ashraf, Zulfiqar Ali Awan, Muhammad Naeem and Muhammad Yasin to foil the smuggling bid.

The ASO team intercepted a Mazda mini truck. The team recovered a smuggled LED TV (36 nos), from the suspicious vehicle and seized it as the owner named main Asim Shahzad son of Abdul Qayyum and Main Azam Shahzad son of Abdul Qayyum resident Madina Town Faisalabad to produce legal document regarding import of the items. But he could not produce documents regarding its legal import. The seizure report has been submitted to the adjudication department for further legally process.
