Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled tyres, cigarettes and auto parts

FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 623,066 during the last week of February, 2016, and registered four cases against alleged smugglers.

Following the instruction of Collector Dr Zulifqar Ali Chaudhary, the ASO team launched a campaign in the region under the supervision of Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad. The team seized foreign origin tyres worth Rs 306,164, auto parts worth Rs 30,740, cigarettes valued at Rs 280,374 and miscellaneous items worth Rs 5,788 by foiling smuggling bids.

Officials said that all the seized items were brought into the country without payment of duty/taxes causing loss to national kitty, as accused person remained failed to produce any evidence regarding the legal import of the items.

The ASO team consisting of Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Sepoys Abdul Jabbar and Zulifqar Ali, Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah and Driver Afzal Hussain participated in the raids.
