Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled wiper motor, truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled foreign origin wiper motor worth Rs 346,055 beside confiscated Hyundi Shehzore bearing registration no. FSG- 9393. The market value of the seized vehicle is Rs 600,000 involving duty and taxes Rs 84,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received secret information about some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan to foil the smuggling bids.

The team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joyia, Inspector Safdar Ali, Khalid Ashraf Noor, raided outside Sahianwala Service area Faisalabad and found foreign origin wiper motor from a loader Hyundai Shahzor. The vehicle was being used for the transportation of motor from Rawalpindi to Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked the accused persons who were identified as Muhammad Ismail son of Mehram Khan (driver), and Zahid Hussain son of Muhammad Charagh (owner) to produced legal documents regarding possession of items. But they failed to provide the same. The ASO team seized the smuggled goods under section 168 and 157 of Customs Act 1969.

Later, the seizure report was submitted to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
