Faisalabad ASO seizes smugled Indian tea worth 14.4m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized Indian tea during a crackdown. The market value of the seized tea is Rs 14.4 million.

Sources informed Customs Today that Additional Collector Mohammad Saeed Asad received information about some smuggling attempts. He constituted an ASO team comprising Muhammad Javed Mehmood (superintendent), Sardar Muhammad (deputy superintendent), Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar (inspectors) Khalid Dogar, Zulifqar Ali Awan, Liaqat Ali and Israr Ahmad (sepoys).

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Ilyas Hussain son of Allah Ditta to produce legal documents regarding possession of tea but he failed to provide any relevant documents. ASO team seized the tea and forward the case to customs adjudication.
