FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication has adjourned the hearing of 68 seizure cases worth Rs 100.739 million during month of October, 2016.
Sources told to Customs Today that Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Majeed adjourned the hearing of three cases worth Rs 8.015 million pertaining to the seizures of various items. These items consisted of different brands of vehicles, Land Cruiser, Vitz car, ladies fabrics, children shoes, television, mobile phone, remote etc . The cases were made by the customs authorities. The collector directed the owners of the seized goods and their counsels to present their arguments on the next hearing.
Furthermore, Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan adjourned hearing of 24 cases worth Rs 51.389 million, while Deputy Collector Asma Hameed adjourned 41 cases involving Rs 41.335 million.
Most of the adjourned seizure cases were detected and registered by the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations, while few cases were made by the Anti-smuggling Organisation (ASO) Faisalabad.
The seizure cases pertaining to smuggled vehicles, mobile phones, base oil, tryes, tubes and auto parts were heard by the Customs Adjudication department. Sources said that all the seized vehicles and other goods were seized according to the Customs Act 1969.
It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication department expedited their process of hearing pending cases on priority basis.
