Faisalabad Customs Adjudication decides 92 cases, recovers Rs 98m in 4 months

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication decided 92 cases of smuggling recovering Rs 98.85 million during first four months (July-October) of current fiscal year 2015-16.

As per details, the cases, which were lodged by Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad, have been decided in favour of the departments as the respondents remain failed to provide any valid evidence before the court.

The adjudication heard cases of smuggled cloth, vehicles brought into country through illegal means, black tea, smuggled pine nuts, generator, and other items during the said period.

As per details, Customs Adjudication Collectorate Raja Tahir Majeed decided 11 cases involving Rs 57.09 millions, while Additional Collector Beelam ur Ramzan settled eight cases involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 12.77 million.

Meanwhile, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed solved 73 cases involving Rs 28.99 million and announced decisions in favour of Customs Intelligence.
