Faisalabad customs court adjudicates 275 cases, recovers Rs 245.071m during four months

FAISALABAD: The customs adjudication decided 275 cases of smuggling and recovered Rs245.071million during the first four months (January-April) of current fiscal year 2017.

The cases, lodged by the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad, FIU Khushab and Sara-e-Muhajir, have been decided in favour of the departments as respondents failed to provide any valid evidence to the court.

The adjudication heard cases of smuggled cloths, vehicles smuggled into country, black tea, smuggled pine nuts, generators, and other items during said period.

Customs Adjudication Collectorate’s Mirza Mubashir Baig decided 10 cases involving Rs65.582million while Additional Deputy Collector (ADC) Muhammad Saeed Asad settled 54 cases involving duty and taxes of Rs95.559million.

Meanwhile, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed adjudicated 211 cases involving Rs83.930million in favour of the Customs Intelligence.
