Faisalabad customs earns Rs04m through auction

FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Faisalabad Auction Committee has conducted an auction of seized smuggled items after the permission of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and generated Rs04million through auction of vehicles and other smuggled goods.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the MCC Faisalabad has confiscated smuggled items coming from China and Iran by different roads and shifted the same to State Warehouse Faisalabad. The ASO registered cases of impounded miscellaneous goods and referred them to the Adjudication Department for proceeding.

After the conclusion of proceedings of cases, the court announced judgment in favour of the Customs Department of the MCC Faisalabad.

Then the collectorate held a special auction of vehicles and goods on March 15, 2017. Most of the people from parts of Faisalabad and Lahore participated in the auction.

During the auction process, there were two vehicles including Toyota Corolla worth Rs01.4million and Toyota Fielder car Rs96000 which were set for sale. Six other miscellaneous items worth Rs01.7million were auctioned off.

Deputy Collector Falik Shair expressed satisfaction over the overall performance of the auction cell regarding the revenue collection.
