Faisalabad Customs seizes goods valued Rs11m during 2nd week of Jan

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs11 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs4.6 million during second week of January 2017.

According to details, the intelligence team, following the directions of Rubab Sikandar, conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region. However, two cases of smuggling were registered against suspects.

The Customs Intelligence seized a huge quantity of personal used computer systems, allegedly smuggled by Gul Wali Khan worth Rs4 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs885,900.

The Field Investigation Unit (FIU), Khushab, seized motor oil made in Iran (360-Dram) worth Rs7 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs3.8 during the abovementioned period. The accused is identified as Muhammad Hassan, a resident of Sargodha.

The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act-1969 after the owners failed to produce any document of legal import of the items.

The intelligence officers, including Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Siddique and Sepoys Muzamil Hussain, Israr Ahmed, Liaqat Ali, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Iqbal and Mussaddaq Ahmed, participated in the raids. However, seizure report has been submitted to the Adjudication Department for legal action.
