Faisalabad Customs I&I impounds non duty paid BMW car

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a foreign origin smuggled BMW vehicle from Sargodha Road.

Sources told Customs Today that Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Sara-i-Muhajir was deployed at specific areas to check non-customs paid vehicles.

Customs Intelligence staff asked driver namely Waqar Asghar to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal import and lawful possession. But he could not produce any documents relating to its legal import or lawful possession on which customs impounded the vehicle under the prevailing customs law.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad impounded the BMW car under Section 157 (2) of the Customs Act 1969 after a considerable passage of time as no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim ownership of seized vehicle as well as no proof of its legal import lawful possession was produced.

A seizure report has been lodged after seizing smuggled BMW car. Further investigations are under process.
