Faisalabad Customs Intelligence confiscates zeera, truck worth Rs 1.9m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 9,000 kilogram cumin seeds (zeera) worth Rs 900,000, besides impounding the truck being used for the transportation of smuggled items worth Rs 1 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 571,500.

A team of Customs Intelligence, following the instruction of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, conducted a raid near Chanab Chowk Jhang Road, Faisalabad and recovered 300 bags filled with foreign origin zeera from a truck bearing Registration No RIN-9752.

Accused persons named as Muhammad Qayum and Abid Hussain were asked to produce documents showing legal import of the item but they remained failed to do the same. Therefore, the team confiscated the item, besides arresting the suspects.

The team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Rafiq, Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, and Intelligence Officer Mansoor Hussain, Bashir Hussain and others participated in the raid.
