Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounds Land Cruiser worth Rs 3.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worth Rs 3.5 million involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs 4 millin during a successful raid.

Customs Intelligence Additional Director Asif Abbas received information regarding the movement of a non-duty paid vehicle on which he formed a team comprising Superintendent Saifullah, intelligence officers Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, sepoys Muhammad Iqbal, Israr Ahmed, Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Rafique and Driver Muhammad Tariq to impound the vehicle.

The intelligence team raided near Civic Centre Canal Road, Faisalabad and intercepted Land Cruiser bearing Registration No BD-5593 Sindh Model 1998 as per registration book and asked the driver namely as Sarfraz son of Muhammad Boota to produce documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he remained fail to produce the same. The intelligence staff impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969 and 3(1), and 3(3), of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1), 89 of the Customs Act and registered a case against accused person.
