Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items worth Rs 1.3m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled items and a truck worth Rs 1.38 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 480,459.

The Customs Intelligence staff intercepted a truck near Shahkot Toll Plaza, Shiekhpura Road, Faisalabad and recovered miscellaneous items, including fabric, micro fine tag pin zips, etc. The team asked the driver namely Muhammad Iftikhar to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.

The driver showed a cargo slip issued by M/s Pervaiz Goods Transport Company but failed to provide proof of customs clearance. Therefore, Mazda Truck and goods worth Rs 1.38 million were confiscated under Section 2kk and 17 of the Customs Act, 1969 and a served notice on the suspect.

After considerable passage of time, no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim the ownership of seized goods, as well as no proof of its legal import and lawful possession was produced. Later, the Customs Intelligence submitted the seizure report to the Adjudication Department.
