Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes almonds, cumin seed worth Rs 5.24m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has seized contraband items, including almonds, cumin seed, coriander seed worth Rs 5.24 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 650,788.

As per details, Customs Intelligence acting upon information received through Additional Director Muhammad Ismail, intercepted a truck of New Quetta Punjab Goods Company bearing Registration No. K-3710 near Jhang Road, Faisalabad.

The officials while searching recovered 170 bags of foreign origin almonds of 15,300 kilogram, 100 bags of zeera having total weight 300 kilogram and 114 bags of sabit dhania worth Rs 5.24 million from the truck.

After recovering the items, driver was asked to produce the documents regarding the legal possession of the spices but he remained fail to do so on which custom seized the items and also impounded the vehicle under Section 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969.

The detecting staff comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Inspector Mansoor khan, Mukhtar Ahmed and others participated in operation.
