Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes dried fruits worth Rs 1.4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled dried fruits worth Rs 1.42 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 990,695 during a successful raid.

The intelligence team intercepted a truck bearing Registration No K-37K-3710 near Nawa Lahore Jhang Road, Faisalabad which was coming from Quetta to Faisalabad. The officials checked the vehicle and recovered dried fruits, including 24,000 kilogramme of Iranian raisins, 100kg pistachio and 750kg almond without shell.

The team asked the driver namely as Sanaullah son of Haji Mian Khan to show documents regarding legal import of the items. He produced receipts issued by M/s United Goods Transportation Company, Quetta in respect of loaded goods, but he could not show customs clearance documents.

The intelligence team seized the items under Section 17 read with Section 2(KK) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Faisalabad Customs Intelligence team, comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Saifullah, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, Sepoys Muhammad Iqbal, Israr Ahmed, Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Rafique and Muhammad Tariq participated in the raid.
