Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes generator, non-duty paid truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a foreign origin smuggled generator worth Rs 600,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 284,800 besides impounding a non-duty paid Hyundai Shehzor truck worth Rs 400,000 which being used for the transportation of the generator.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence team following information conveyed through Additional Director Azmat Tahira conducted a raid near Kashmir Chowk Canal Road Faisalabad to seize the smuggled items.

The team intercepted a Hyundai Mazda bearing registration no. FDS-8345 and recovered a generator of 80-KVA (diesel), Cumin brand and asked the driver Babar Hussain son of Muhammad Ayub and owner of the generator named as Muhammad Ayub to produce the documents showing the legal import of the items but he remained fail.  Therefore, Customs Intelligence confiscated the items under Section 157(2) of Customs Act, 1969.

Customs Intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Bashir Hussain and sepoys Mukhtar Ahmed, Shoukat Hayat, Khalil Ahmed, and Muhammad Iqbal participated in the raid.
