Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes goods worth Rs 236.97 million, registers 106 cases

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled items worth Rs 236.97 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 177.22 million during July-April of the current fiscal year 2015-16.

Officials said that Additional Director Azmat Tahira formed different teams to curb smuggling in the region. They added that the Customs Intelligence staff impounded non-duty paid vehicles and others goods during various operations.

The Customs Intelligence teams foiled a number of smuggling bids in Khushab, Sargodha and Faisalabad, and registered nearly 106 cases of smuggling. The officials registered eight cases in July, seven in August, 12 in September, 10 in October, 14 in November, 16 in December, 13 in January, 15 in February, six in March and five cases during April 2016.
