FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled goods worth Rs 2.828 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.688 million, besides impounding offender vehicles worth Rs 2 million in different anti-smuggling activities during the third week of May 2016.
Officials said that the Customs Intelligence conducted operations on the instruction of Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction, including Sargodha, Khushab and Faisalabad.
The teams confiscated smuggled goods including Indian Zeera worth Rs 1.143 million and used iron pipes worth Rs 784,313 and Iranian dates worth Rs 244,000 after the accused persons could not produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.
The seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
