Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 284m in 11 months

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized various contraband items including non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 284.57 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 209.1 million, besides registering 118 cases during 11 months of current fiscal year 2015-16.

Following the instructions of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, teams of Customs Intelligence, including the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab and Sargodha, took stern action against smuggling, which is bringing huge losses to the national kitty.

The Customs Intelligence seized of Iranian motor oil and Indian grey fabric, besides, impounding trucks, which were being used for the transportation of the smuggled items. On the other hand, Khushab FIU confiscated smuggled auto parts, vehicles and other miscellaneous items during the different items.

The Customs Intelligence teams comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz, Superintendent Maher Muhammad Rafiq, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir Khan, Muhammad Saleem, Naseer Ahmed, Bashir Hussain, Sepoy Mukhtar Ahmed, Khalil Ahmed, Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Iqbal participated in the raids.

Raids were conducted by Customs Intelligence teams in different areas including Sheikhpura Road, motorways, Smundri Roads, Jhang Road and also Sargodha Road.

The high ups of the Customs Intelligence have appreciated the performance of the officials who foiled various smuggling bids in the region.
