Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes LEDs & computers worth Rs4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled LEDs and used computers worth Rs4million involving duty and taxes of Rs1.9milliom during a raid near Moosa Khel district, Mianwali.

The Customs Intelligence received a tip-off that used smuggled computers and LEDs would be smuggled through a trailer.

Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal formed a special team comprising Intelligence Officer Asar Saleemi, Sepoys Muhammad Naeem Niazi, Ashraf Qureshi, Khalil Ahmed and Muhammad Asad for thwarting a smuggling attempt. The team intercepted the trailer bearing registration No: JU-5572 and recovered a huge quantity of contraband items coming from Peshawar side.

The recovered goods were packed in cartons and booked in the name of Khawaja Muhammad Bilal son of Khawaja Muhammad Irfan.

The Customs Intelligence team has taken the items into possession for verification. During the verification, it was revealed that the recovered goods were booked in a fake name for delivery purposes.

So the department impounded the items after verification under the Customs Act-1969 and formed a seizure report of the captured goods. The seizure report was forwarded to customs adjudication for further legal action.
