Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled fabric, truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated huge quantity of Indian grey fabric and trailer worth Rs6,757,651 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs15,90,520.

Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Assistant Director Syed Ittrat Hussain the intelligence team comprising, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Siddique, Muhammad Saleem and Sepoys Mukhtar Ahmed, Khalil Ahmed, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Iqbal, conducted a raid near Gutwala Toll Plaza and recovered foreign origin grey fabric from a trailer bearing registration no: TLK-485.

The team asked the accused person named Muhammad Imran Khan son of Muhammad Ramzan to show the documents regarding its legal import but he failed to do the same.

Therefore, the customs officials seized the cloth under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act 1969. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
