Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounds three vehicles valued at Rs20m into possession

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded three vehicles worth Rs20million involving duty and taxes of Rs11million during third week of March 2017-18.

The intelligence team, following directions of Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat, conducted various raids to foil the smuggling attempts in the region. Three cases of smuggling were registered against suspects.

The Customs Intelligence took into possession a Hino truck bearing registration No: C-2961, Model 2000, priced at Rs8million involving duty and taxes of Rs3million allegedly smuggled by Habib Noor, a resident of Lower Dir.

The Customs Intelligence also impounded a Toyota car bearing registration No: LWJ-8958, Model 2000, valued at Rs1.5million involving duty and taxes of Rs1.1million during above said duration. The accused is identified as Muhammad Hanif, a resident of Faisalabad.

On the other hand, the FIU Sargodha took into possession a Hino truck bearing Registration No: GST-17-696, Model 1997, worth Rs10million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs6.1million. Muhammad Iqbal, a resident of Sargodha city, has been nominated as accused by the intelligence staff in the case.

The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act-1969 after the owners failed to produce any documents showing the legal import of the items.

The Intelligence Officers and officials, including Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Irshad Ali, Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad, participated in the raids. The seizure reports have been submitted to the Adjudication Department for further legal action.
