Faisalabad Customs seizes imported cardamom worth Rs 3 million

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized foreign origin 53 sacks of cardamom.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He constituted a raiding team comprising Zahid Saleem Mirza (SIO), Muhammad Mansoor Nasir (IO) Tajamalul Haq (driver) Havaldar Muhammad Sajjad and Khalil Ahmed (sepoys).

The customs team intercepted a truck bearing registration No. FDS-5432 near Saifabad Chowk Jhang Road Faisalabad and recovered 53 sacks of cardamom. The market value of the seized cardamom is Rs 3 million. The cardamom was booked from Lahore vide receipt No. 1196/53 issued by Super Diamond Goods and consignee name was mentioned as M/s MT Faisalabad.

The customs team seized the cardamom and submitted a report to the adjudication department for legally process.
