Faisalabad Customs seizes non-customs paid tyres, tubes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled tyres and tubes worth Rs 300,000 involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 154,148.

According to sources, the customs staff intercepted a bus bearing registration no. MNI- 3406 near Gatwala Toll Plaza, Shiekhupura Road, and recovered Green brand new tyres with tube and flaps made in China. These tyres and tubes were being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad.  The team asked the conductor namely Muhammad Shahzad to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items. But he remained failed.

Therefore, the customs teams seized the goods under  Section 2(s), 16  and 168  of the Customs Act. 1969 and a served notice to owners of these tyres and tubes who were identified as Rahim Ashraf and Abdul Jabbar.

The customs team comprising Muhammad Rafiq (superintendent) Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Saleem (IO), and sepoys Muhammad Rafiq, Mohiuddin,  Zulfiqar Ali, Israr Ahmad, and Muhammad Tariq take part in seziure.

After considerable passage of time, as well as no proof of its legal import and lawful possession was produced. Later, the Customs Intelligence submitted the seizure report to customs Adjudication department.
