Inland Revenue Intelligence seizes non-duty paid cigarettes worth Rs7m

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue seized non-duty paid cigarettes worth Rs7 million from an illegal warehouse during an action in Toba Tek Singh.

While talking to Customs Today Deputy Director Tariq Javed said that in pursuance of intelligence shared by Director Aqeel Ahmad Siddiqui the customs intelligence constituted a special team to crackdown foreign origin cigarettes.

Tariq said that, following the lead, the team raided a warehouse and recovered 325 cartons of non-duty paid cigarettes and arrested the owner of the warehouse who was identified as Badshah Khan. He added that the market value of the seized cigarettes is Rs7 million.

The team participated in this seizure operation comprised of Intelligence Inspector Ijaz Ahmad Awan, Israr Ahmad Awan, Wajahat Hussain, Awais Siddiqui, Mukhtar Ali, Shahid Ghani and Khurram Shahzad.
