Faisalabad DC adjudication issues ONO in favour of Sargodha ASO

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued an Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha.

Customs ASO Sargodha impounded Seira Jiminy jeep with registration No: LEI-15A-5422 which was brought into the country through unauthorized route and without payment of customs duty and taxes. Accused Nadeem Khan S/o of Hayat Khan, a resident of district Faisalabad, failed to produced any documentary proof of the import of the vehicle.

The customs staff forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings taking stance that the impounded Jeep was smuggled into the country without payment of duty and taxes.

During the hearing, it was maintained that physically it is a Suzuki Jiminy Sierra jeep which was rendered with the change of the body parts so seizing agency had no objection on the release of the jeep against the payment of duty and taxes plus redemption fine. The chassis number of the vehicle was verified by FSL Islamabad and registration particulars have also been verified by the ETO and MRA Lahore.

After hearing the arguments, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed decided the case on the basis of facts and material available on the file and issued Order-in-Original (ONO) No: 93/2017.
