Faisalabad Excise registers four cases against drug traffickers

FAISALABAD: The anti-narcotics wing of the Excise and Taxation Department has lodged five FIRs against smugglers and seized illicit drugs during January of the current fiscal year.

The anti-narcotics team seized 4,500 grams of charas worth Rs 500,000 during a raid near Narwala. It also confiscated 50.3 gram of opium near Ghulamabad, which was recovered from a person travelling from Lahore to Faisalabad.

Furthermore, the team also seized the 35 liters of imported claret from Seyedabad, Faisalabad and arrested a person on the spot.

In order to curb the trading of illicit drugs, Assistant Taxation officer Rana ahmed Hassan formed a special team comprising Inspector Muhammad Haroon, Sepoy Muhammad Gulzar and others. Following the instructions, the team enhanced surveillance at exit and entry points of the city, besides raiding the different areas of the city.

The accused persons have sent behind the bars after lodging FIRs against them, while further investigation is under way.
